Slick road surface plays role in fatal wreck Saturday

SoVaNow.com / March 19, 2017
A Nathalie woman was killed in a single-vehicle wreck late Saturday afternoon amid a downpour that caused her vehicle to slide off the road.

The crash took place at 4:55 p.m. on Route 40, approximately 200 feet east of Route 603 in the Cody area of Halifax County. A 2004 Honda Accord was traveling along Route 40 when it hydroplaned and ran off the right side of the road. The Honda then struck a tree.

The driver, Kathryn A. Epperson, 55, of Nathalie, died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to a report by Virginia State Police Trooper K.R. Martin.

Martin’s investigation of the crash is continuing.
