South Boston Council convenes / May 14, 2018

South Boston Town Council will hold a public hearing today on a recommendation by its Planning Commission to rezone a parcel of land owned by Commonwealth Assisted Living from R-1 Low Density Residential to B-2 General Business.

The zoning change is needed to allow the expansion of the 435 Hamilton Boulevard facility.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council chambers on Yancey Street.

Council members also are expected to consider adding an article to the Town Code calling for a fire investigator to be hired at the fire department. Dwight Spangler is expected to be named to the post as fire marshal.

Council members also will be asked to adopt 2018-2019 fee and tax listings in town, and enact a new town budget for the upcoming fiscal year that starts July 1.
