South Boston council gets first look at budget / March 28, 2011
South Boston Town Council will hold its monthly work session this afternoon in Council Chambers on Yancey Street beginning at 5:45 p.m.

Current Issues Committee members will get an update on an in-fill housing initiative which they began studying back in 2009. Town Manager Ted Daniel said he is hoping to find “green energy” grant monies to construct houses on lots that have been cleared in some areas of the town.

Finance panel members will review the revenue sharing application needed to secure matching funds from the Virginia Department of Transportation for street work, as well as reviewing the monthly financial statement.

Members are also expected to get their first look at the proposed 2011-2012 town budget.
