South Boston Council meets tonight to organize for year, select vice mayor / July 13, 2020
South Boston Town Council will gather tonight at 7 p.m. for an organizational meeting with the election of new council members in June.

Among the items of business on the agenda is the choosing of a new vice mayor to succeed Tina Wyatt-Younger, who came up short in her bid for re-election.

Mayor Ed Owens will appoint members to council committees, and he is proposing the formation of a youth advisory committee that also calls for the naming of members.

Council has a number of board vacancies to fill, including to the South Boston Industrial Development Authority, the Southside Planning District Commission, the South Boston Planning Commission, the regional library board and the Community Arts Center Foundation, which oversees The Prizery.

The meeting will offer a citizen comment period. It is set to take place tonight at 7 p.m. at Council Chambers on Yancey Street.
