South Boston Council takes up budget / June 24, 2013
South Boston Town Council will hold its monthly work session tonight in Council Chambers on Yancey Street beginning at 5:45 p.m.

The first item of business is the adoption of the town’s $9.5 million budget for the 2013-2014 fiscal year, which begins July 1. The budget, which comes up for a second reading tonight, includes no tax or fee increases.

Finance committee members will get the town’s monthly financial report, and Current Issue Committee members are expected to discuss a recommendation by the Town’s Planning Commission to conditionally zone property at 311 Berry Hill Road. The rezoning would allow for the operation of a vehicle repair business.

The application for the rezoning is being made by Raymond Perkins on property zoned B-1, Neighborhood Business, which formerly housed Sadler Machine Shop.
