South Boston man arrested on child porn charge

South Boston News
Remines / December 02, 2019
A 55-year-old South Boston man has been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography and computer trespass following a two-month investigation by South Boston Police and Virginia State Police.

Jerry W. Remines of Yates Street was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Halifax County Adult Detention Center where he was held on a $10,000 secure bond, in equal $5,000 amounts on the two charges against him.

The arrest stemmed from an ongoing investigation that started in October, according to the South Boston Police Department. During the course of the investigation, search warrants were obtained that led to the seizure of several computer storage devices, including a phone. During the search of some of the devices seized, evidence was found which led to each charge of possession of child pornography and computer trespass placed against Remines.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are anticipated in the case. Special Agents with the Virginia State Police are assisting in the SBPD investigation. Detective T.N. Bratton is the investigating officer.
