South Boston man charged with malicious wounding

South Boston Police have arrested a 54 year old South Boston man charging him with the malicious wounding of a South Boston resident.

Shon Waddell Chappell turned himself in to South Boston Police Cpl. Mitch Bowen on Monday, May 12 around 7:30 p.m. after officers had issued a warrant for him following their investigation of an assault reported to them on Sunday night, May 11.

South Boston Officer Jerome George was called to the Jefferson Avenue area of the town shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday to learn that the victim had been transported to the local emergency room by private vehicle prior to his arrival. The victim suffered from facial injuries as a result of the attack and was treated and released from the hospital. Chappell was subsequently transported to the Halifax Adult Detention Center where he was being held without bond.
