South Hill Council on delay after outbreak / February 10, 2021

The monthly meeting of the South Hill Town Council was postponed Monday after it was learned that two employees of Town Hall had tested positive for COVID-19.

The meeting has been rescheduled for Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.

Town Manager Kim Callis said, “As all Town Hall staff had some exposure to those who tested positive, we are sending everyone home to quarantine for five days while carefully monitoring their personal health. People will continue to work from home as best they can.”

He also arranged for Town Hall to be thoroughly sanitized and disinfected. Callis said he expected that to take place either Feb. 8 or 9.

With no one available to answer calls at the Town Hall, Callis said he arranged for Public Works staff to respond to calls related to water, sewer, and other service issues, and the 911 center to handle police and fire calls.

“We will monitor voice mails and return calls as soon as we can,” Callis said. He plans for everyone to return to work at Town Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The offices were previously scheduled to be closed on Monday, Feb. 15 to mark President’s Day.
