South Hill truck fire

South Boston News
Members of the South Hill and La Crosse Volunteer Fire Departments battled a truck fire on I-85 early Monday. At 2:38 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to Exit 12B on I-85 for a truck on fire. Police Officer James Crawford, who was also at the scene, said “within a matter of minutes seven fire trucks and a small army of firefighters” were on location and began efforts to extinguish the flame. The cause of the fire is unknown. The truck, which had been previously unloaded, was fully engulfed by the time the team arrived. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. The driver escaped uninjured, but the truck was a total loss. Also assisting were Southside Rescue Squad, the South Hill Police Department and Virginia State Police. / February 21, 2018
