Surveys go out Tuesday on intentions for school year

SoVaNow.com / June 25, 2020

The Halifax County Public Schools will send out a survey on Tuesday, June 30 for all families to make a decision — whether to send their students to school or have them learn virtually from home. The survey for the 2020-21 school year will be distributed via email and cell phone text message. There will be an “All Call” telephone heads-up to let parents and caregivers know about the questionnaire.

Included in the survey will be questions regarding students’ transportation needs as school officials work to establish a school bus route schedule for the fall. There will also be questions about your internet access and the speed of your internet connection.

These surveys are important for the staff and faculty — “We need to know who is coming to school to have all the safety procedures and protocols in place,” said Superintendent of Schools Mark Lineburg.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to update any changes of address, current telephone numbers, and email addresses as soon as possible.

Addressing one common parental concern — whether the upcoming school year will include arts and music classes, physical education and recess — Lineburg said, “We will find a way for kids to move and participate in art and music.” These classes may not be conducted in the traditional way, but they will be there, he said.
