Suspect arrested after South Hill break-in, assault / February 13, 2019
South Hill Police Department made an arrest Friday in a Dec. 30 break-in at a home on Franklin Street in South Hill that left one woman with minor injuries.

A department spokesperson said Shannon Bacon, 39, of the Whittles Mill area was initially arrested on charges of abduction, but that more charges will likely follow. He is being held in the Meherrin River Regional Jail awaiting a court date.

Officers were dispatched to the scene on Franklin Street in the early morning hours of Dec. 30 where they found the residence had been broken into and a female resident inside had been assaulted.

Several items were collected during a search of the scene and sent to the state forensic science lab in Richmond for analysis. This evidence eventually led the department to a suspect, and with the help of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Bacon was taken into custody on Friday, Feb. 8.

South Hill Police Chief Stuart Bowen said this is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information about this case or any other crime is encouraged to call the South Hill Police Department at 447-3104 or text your tip to keyword SHPDTIP at 847411.
