Suspect held in robbery attempt
SoVaNow.com / September 04, 2013A single attempted robbery interrupted an otherwise quiet weekend in Clarksville, said acting police chief First Sgt. Robert Boring.
On Sunday, Boring was called to the town dock on Second Street in Clarksville after several witnesses complained of seeing a man remove fishing gear from boats moored at the dock.
Boring was able to identify the suspect as 50-year-old Roger Lee Martin Jr. from Spout Spring near Appomattox. Martin was charged with two counts of grand larceny and one count of petty larceny, and subsequently released on his own recognizance. His hearing date is set for Sept. 23.
Boring recovered all of the fishing gear, which he valued at $1292.89.
