Suspect held on narcotics charge / July 29, 2021
Joe Belt Allred Jr., 55 of Long Branch Lane, Scottsburg was arrested Monday for an oustanding parole violation by members of the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotic & Gang Task Force. After his arrest it was found that Allred was in possession of suspected illegal substances, said Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark.

Task Force member seized suspected heroin and currency from Allred, who was transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority in Halifax and charged with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with the intent to distribute subsequent offense. Allred was held without bail.

Members of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police assisted in the arrest.

The Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotic & Gang Task Force consists of members of the Virginia State Police, South Boston Police Department and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office
