Taking pride on Clean Up Day

South Boston NewsSouth Boston News
A dozen volunteers from St. John’s Episcopal Church in Halifax picked up 14 bags of trash along Mountain Road while taking part in Halifax County Clean Up Day on Saturday. The community-wide effort drew residents outdoors on a pleasant day, with the Improvement Council and affiliate organizations handing out hundreds of bright orange trash bags for people to use in scooping up roadside litter. Below middle and right, Birch Elmo Road was marred by unsightly trash until volunteers came by and returned the country road to a pristine state. Below left, a youth group turned out to clean up Melon Road near the Turbeville Ruritan Club. (Contributed photos) / March 18, 2019
