Task Force makes four more drug arrests / October 14, 2019
The Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotic and Gang Task Force arrested four suspects this week on various drug-related charges.

On Tuesday, the Task Force arrested Michael Barksdale, 54, of Bold Springs Road on an indictment for two counts of distribution of methamphetamine, third or subsequent offense.

Barksdale was taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax where he is being held without bond.

On Wednesday, Task Force members arrested Thomas Thompson Jr., 49 of Henry’s Trail in Nathalie, Julious Stokes, 40 of Yanceyville, N.C. and Thomas Walters, 39 of Yanceyville, N.C. following a traffic stop. According to Sheriff Fred Clark, Task Force officers stopped a vehicle that was occupied by the three subjects and it was found that they were in possession of illegal substances.

Officers seized suspected marijuana, suspected cocaine and currency. All three subjects were arrested and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

Thompson was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and was held without bond. Stokes was charged with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance and held without bond.

Walters was charged with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance and held on a $3,000 secured bond.

Deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Task Force with the traffic stop and arrest.

The Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotic & Gang Task Force consists of members of the Virginia State Police, South Boston Police Department and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
