Task Force seizes marijuana haul / February 20, 2013
Members of the Southside Drug Taskforce seized nearly 30 pounds of marijuana during a raid on a home at 562 Bridge Road in South Hill on Monday.

Senior Special Agent Ronnie Campbell estimated the current street value of the marijuana at $136,000.

He said, “this is a pretty significant seizure for us,” but would not disclose the names of the suspects because “this investigation is ongoing.”

Charges are pending even though the suspects remain unnamed.

The Southside Drug and Gang Task Force is made up of officers from the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Office, South Hill Police Department, Clarksville Police Department, Chase City Police Department , Virginia ABC and Virginia State Police.

Campbell said aiding in this investigation were additional members of the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Department and State Police.
