Brook Hatcher has been named 2021 Educator of the Year by Mecklenburg County Public Schools.

As MCPS director of technology, Hatcher was instrumental in the shift to virtual education that took place during the 2020-21 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In her 18 years with the school division, Hatcher has progressed from her initial job as technology resource teacher to assistant director of technology in 2003 and then to the director’s post, which she assumed in 2017. She is also an integral member of the team tasked with developing and initiating a learning environment that integrates technology and teaching as MCPS prepares students to become global leaders, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.

Hatcher holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Longwood University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, also from Longwood University.
