Three charged with break-in / July 09, 2020

Three suspects have been arrested by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department in connection with a home break-in on June 28.

Shirley Pena, 56, of McCulloch Lane, Nathalie, Alicia Smith, 29, of McCulloch Lane and David Layne, 34, of McCulloch Lane were all arrested on July 3 for their alleged involvement in a breaking and entering that was reported on June 28, at a residence on Bull Creek Road.

Pena was charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny. Smith was charged with breaking and entering, grand larceny and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Layne was charged with receiving stolen goods.

All three were transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax. Layne was released on a $1,500 bond, Pena was released on a $3,000 bond and Smith was held without bond.

Sheriff Fred Clark said the investigation is still active and more charges are pending.
