Two arrested on gun, drug dealing counts

SoVaNow.com / January 24, 2013
Two South Boston men were arrested on Tuesday by the Halifax Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force and charged with drug and firearms felonies.

Arrested were 28 year old Carmichael Jermond Howerton and 34 year old Samuel Link Woody.

South Boston Police and Task Force members searched a residence on Jeffress Street and seized significant quantities of suspected cocaine and suspected MDMA (Molly), a crystalline form of the drug widely known as ecstasy.

Also seized were a large amount of cash and two firearms, one of which had been reported stolen from a vehicle on November 14, 2012 in Halifax County.

Howerton was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.

Woody was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.

Additional charges are expected to be made against each of the two men.

Howerton is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond and Woody is being held on a $10,000 secured bond.
