South Boston News
SoVaNow.com / October 17, 2011
Chassiday Clay, age 22, and Luther Hilliard, age 54, died at the scene of a two-car crash on Sunday at the intersection of Rt. 58 and Rt. 730 near Clarksville. Clay and Hilliard were passengers in the car driven by Willie Vontrell Clay of Clarksville.

According to reports from Virginia State Police Trooper Stiltner, Clay and another passenger, Johnny Garner of Buffalo Junction, and the driver of the second car, Glenn B. Newsome, age 55 of Emporia, were transported by EMS from the scene of the accident.

The two passengers in Newsome’s car, Donna Newsome, age 54, and Stephen Newsome, age 33, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Stiltner reported that the wreck was caused by Clay who failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of Newsome’s car.

The crash is still under investigation, but charges are pending against Clay.

No further information is available at this time regarding the conditions of Clay, Garner or Newsome.
