Two die in Brunswick single-vehicle crash / September 01, 2021

Two people died Monday following a single-vehicle crash in the 6600 block of Governor Harrison Parkway near Brodnax in Brunswick County.

A spokesperson with Virginia State Police said the wreck happened at approximately 7 a.m. on Aug. 30.

A 2012 Lincoln Navigator was traveling eastbound on Highway 58/Governor Harrison Parkway when the driver ran off the road and struck a tree. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.

The driver, Jerome Miller, was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, lost control, ran off the roadway and struck a tree. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to catch fire.

Both the driver, Miller, 31, of Bronx, N.Y., and his front seat passenger, 50 year old Twanna Sharpe, of Kennersville, N.C., died upon impact.

One backseat passenger, a 19 year old female was taken to VCU hospital in South Hill. The other backseat passenger, a 16 year old male, was transported to VCU Richmond with life threatening injuries.
