Two held for grand larceny, break-in / October 29, 2012
Two local men are being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax after being charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny at the home of Charles Bane on Pine Haven Trail in the Union community.

Charged were 24-year-old Joseph Matthew Arnold of Cherry Street, South Boston and 22-year-old Jonathan Chase Stephens of Hall’s Trail, Halifax.

According to Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark, his office received a call around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from Bane, who reported that the door to his basement had been kicked in and over $200 in quarters was missing from the home.

Clark said Deputy Tommy Spencer began investigating the case and was soon able to arrest the two suspects. Arnold and Stephens are being held without bond, awaiting a preliminary court hearing.
