Vandals destroy interior of Clarksville gift shop

South Boston News / October 11, 2017

Clarksville Police are continuing their search for the persons who last week vandalized Sue’s Place, a gift and collectibles shop on College Street in Clarksville.

Vandals broke in and destroyed nearly every item in the shop sometime during the overnight hours of Tuesday, Oct. 4 and Wednesday, Oct. 5. Glass items were smashed, tables and chairs were overturned and broken into pieces, and the place was flooded.

The vandals removed the pea trap from under the sink in the upstairs bathroom, turned on the faucet and allowed it to run throughout the night, causing water to flood both the upstairs and downstairs. Their final act was to spray obscenities and insults on the outside of the building in red paint.

The owner of the shop and her husband had recently completed a renovation and upgrade of the building inside and out.

Traces of the paint were later found by police elsewhere around town, on Averett Church Road in Buffalo Junction.

Police are investigating a break-in that occurred the same night at Lake View Motors, at 7514 Highway 58 in Clarksville. An attempt was made to gain entry to the business’s safe, without success.

Anyone has any information about either or both of these crimes is asked to call the Clarksville Police Department at 434-374-5743 or Sgt. Tim Garner at 434-210-2906.
