Vandals strike Ruritan Club trailer / August 08, 2018
Vandals slashed three tires on a trailer belonging to the Clarksville Ruritan Club last month.

At the time of the crime, the trailer was stored behind the Clarksville Community Center on Woodland Drive.

The damage was discovered on July 26 when members tried to use the trailer to pick up items being donated for resale in the club’s thrift store. Club members said it was last used five days earlier on July 21 and they are at a loss as to why anyone would destroy the club’s property since their mission is to give back to the community.

Now they must pay around $300 to replace the tires instead of using the money in service to the town.

Every year the Clarksville Ruritans hand out thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school seniors and donate to a number of local charities. Their mission is to achieve fellowship and goodwill through community service.

Sgt. Tim Garner says the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Garner or the Clarksville Police Department at (434) 374-5743.
