Vernon Hill man dies in motorcycle crash / June 17, 2018
A Vernon Hill man was killed Friday afternoon when the motorcycle he was operating slid off the gravel shoulder of State Route 360 and crashed.

The driver of the bike, Courtland R.S. Penn, 53, died at the scene.

The crash took place around 4:10 p.m. on Route 360 about a half-mile east of Route 680, east of Vernon Hill. According to Virginia State Police, Penn was traveling eastbound on a 2004 Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle when the bike ran off the right side of the road onto the gravel shoulder, causing Penn to lose control.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The incident is being investigated by Trooper G.L. Goad.
