Veterans Day parade Saturday in South Boston

SoVaNow.com / November 09, 2017

South Boston’s annual Veterans Day Parade will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. The parade begins at the intersection of Carrington and Wilborn Avenue with over 70 entries participating.

In addition to numerous vehicles carrying local veterans and dignitaries, the Blue Comet Marching Band will be present along with members of the high school JROTC unit, the HCHS cheerleaders and the school’s Dynasty step team.

Two floats are entered in the parade, one transporting the Sons of the Confederacy and the other from We’ve Got Rhythm Academy. Also taking part in the event are Girl Scout, Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops.

Following the parade there will be a ceremony in Constitution Square where Lori Reaves Vogt and Frank Fincher will welcome guests to hear guest speaker Sam Lowery address the importance of remembering veterans of all wars who have sacrificed so much for everyone.
