With Crystal Hill little library, get a book, leave a book

South Boston News / May 21, 2020

This month, the Crystal Hill Improvement Club opened a little library next door to the Post Office in the rural community of Crystal Hill.

“It’s been a lot of success the past several weeks,” said Rebecca Holt, adding they have stocked the library several times.

Holt is a member of the Crystal Hill Improvement Club. “I’ve been seeing these little libraries pop up and thought it would be nice in our area.” This way readers can get books without going into the Town of Halifax.

The sign on the little library encourages readers to get a book and leave a book as a way to help keep books on the shelves for others. The little library is stocked with books for all ages: kids, pre-teen, teenagers, and adult. The Crystal Hill Improvement Club is planning a spot to accept more book donations.

In the future, the Club will have a “welcome sign” added to the road entrance into Crystal Hill. If you or someone you know would like to help, the group is always accepting new members.

“We are trying to grow new members,” said Holt, typically people who live in and around or grew up in Crystal Hill.
