Woman’s body found at Tanglewood Shores residence / February 05, 2020
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office has provided scant details on a woman whose body was recovered Monday at a home in the 100 block of Longwood Drive in the Tanglewood Shores subdivision of Bracey.

According MCSO Major Terry Edmonds, members of the Southside Rescue Squad and Lake Gaston were already at the home and attempting CPR when deputies arrived. Edmonds said the body of the deceased woman showed signs of trauma.

The homeowner, 78-year-old Russell Lawrimore, was at the home when deputies arrived. He was asked to step outside while the officers completed their investigation of the potential crime scene. Edmonds said Lawrimore became irate and assaulted multiple deputies, resulting in his arrest.

Lawrimore was taken to Meherrin River Regional Jail where he was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer. His initial court appearance is set for March 12.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation and have not releasing any information about the deceased, including the woman’s identity.

Her body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for an autopsy.
