Wreck takes life of Saxe woman / April 18, 2018
Virginia State Police are investigating the third fatal wreck to occur in Mecklenburg County in four days.

Irma M. Edmonds, 67 of Saxe was traveling on Route 47 near Lenhart Drive (State Route 683) in Chase City just before noon on Monday, when her car veered off the left side of the highway.

Witnesses say the 2005 Jeep Liberty crashed through a nearby home before striking a tree and coming to a stop in the backyard of the home. It then burst into flames.

Edmonds, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, died at the scene. Trooper K. H. Pearce is continuing his investigation.
