Zoning on tap for So Bo Council

SoVaNow.com / December 09, 2013
South Boston Town Council will hold a joint public hearing on the proposed recodification of the town’s zoning ordinance with members of its Planning Commission this Monday at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers on Yancey Street.

The new ordinance lists six new districts including a rural residential district which covers much of the town’s acreage as well as the Dan River District which includes the land along the Dan River.

Town Manager Ted Daniel said the changes will help to define the areas and are “developer friendly.”

Council is also expected to elect one of its members to serve as vice-mayor until June 30.

Members are also expected to receive a report from the Board of Viewers on the vacation of a 15 foot by 391 foot section of the unopened Oakes Street, situated north of Estes Road.
