Planners host four hearings

Halifax County Planners will meet tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Mary Bethune Complex in Halifax with four public hearings on their agenda.

Contract awarded for upgrade

Directors of the Halifax County Service Authority on Thursday afternoon approved an engineering contract with Dewberry in the amount of $1.4 million to carry out the engineering work for the Maple Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant. That was just one of many requirements placed on the Authority by USDA, which is lending HCSA $5 million, plus awarding it a grant of $10.4 million from federal stimulus funds to make improvements to the Maple Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Banister Shores water project given go-ahead

The Banister Shores Waterline Project is set to get under way after residents of the Halifax-area subdivision returned a sufficient number of positive responses to the project in Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) surveys.
