An estimated 20 residents of Occoneechee Trail and Lake Shore Drive gathered Thursday to hear what officials of the state’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) would tell them about the proposed water line to Banister Shores. The session, held by members of the Board of Directors for the Halifax County Service Authority, provided an opportunity for the 19 homeowners who will be affected by the new line to ask questions and air their concerns.

Kerr Reservoir allocation plan selected by Authority

Members of the Halifax County Service Authority on Thursday unanimously gave their support for Option Three of the choices presented to them for the allocation of stored water from the Kerr Reservoir.

Real estate tax bills mailed, first installment due June 7

Halifax County 2010 real estate tax bills were mailed out last week. The State Code of Virginia requires that bills be mailed not later than 14 days prior to the due date of the taxes.

Meeting slated to discuss water grant

The Halifax County Service Authority will host an informational meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Mary Bethune Complex to provide an opportunity for the 20 residents affected by a $1.072 million grant from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to ask questions about how the money will be used.
