Supervisors draw up final plans for budget

The Halifax County Board of Supervisors on Monday gave its general approval to the proposed County budget for the upcoming 2011 fiscal year, although the package will not be finalized until the Board meets one more time on June 21 for a formal vote.

County, 911 director part ways

Allen Bober, who has headed the Halifax County E911 Center since it opened some eight years ago, announced late yesterday that he is no longer employed with the County’s E911 center.

An estimated 20 residents of Occoneechee Trail and Lake Shore Drive gathered Thursday to hear what officials of the state’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) would tell them about the proposed water line to Banister Shores. The session, held by members of the Board of Directors for the Halifax County Service Authority, provided an opportunity for the 19 homeowners who will be affected by the new line to ask questions and air their concerns.

Kerr Reservoir allocation plan selected by Authority

Members of the Halifax County Service Authority on Thursday unanimously gave their support for Option Three of the choices presented to them for the allocation of stored water from the Kerr Reservoir.
