After receiving a request from Halifax Town Council to find a home elsewhere, Halifax Dixie Youth officials appeared before Council members Wednesday to make the case for keeping league activities at the Halifax Elementary ball field,

13.4 percent jobless rate in county

Halifax County’s unemployment rate climbed a new high of 13.4 percent in February, up half a percentage point from the January figure of 12.9 percent.

Supes review ag districts, road funds

Halifax County Supervisors on Monday night heard two speakers address the inclusion of some 20 tracts of land into the newly formed Ag/Forestal Districts. It was the third public hearing the Board has held on the 69 parcels that are being requested for inclusion in the special tax assessment districts across the county and the only time that anyone has commented on any of the requests.
