A WAY TO SHOW OFF OUR COMMUNITY — Four interns at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center — Britteny Madine, Evan Irby, Ben Scarborough and Russell White — have developed 3D models of several important local sites which create digital tours for use on the internet.
Halifax County has gone 3D! Through a partnership between the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) and the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC), interns in the Business of Art & Design program at the SVHEC have developed 3D renderings of Halifax County’s most notable assets.

The Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation got a big boost yesterday as Wachovia, A Wells Fargo Company, announced that it is stepping in to assist the Foundation and the Halifax County School system with a $5,000 gift.

New traffic pattern put in place at middle school

In an effort to increase the safety of motorists traveling the U.S. 501 corridor through South Boston, the South Boston Police Department, in cooperation with the Halifax County school system, will be implementing a new traffic pattern for the pickup of students (car riders) at the front entrance of the Halifax County Middle School.

The Halifax County School Board on Monday night voted to invite representatives of the Virginia Association of School Superintendents (VASS) to an upcoming meeting to provide information on doing an efficiency study on the county schools.
