Patel takes top ranking

The ten eighth grade students at Halifax County Middle School with the highest GPAs for 2009-2010 were recognized Wednesday during Class Day Awards.

HCHS graduation Friday

Graduation exercises will be held at Halifax County High School tomorrow evening, June 3 beginning at 6 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Admission to the program is by ticket only but the service will be broadcast on Comcast Channel 18, according to Principal Albert Randolph.

Halifax County High School held its annual All-Star Reception Monday, recognizing the achievements of students during the school year. One hundred and eighty-nine students at Halifax County High School were designated as “All-Stars 2010” during a banquet and ceremony at the high school on Monday evening. Eight of those students were deemed “Four Time All Stars 2010” and twenty others were named “Three Times All Stars 2010.”

Davis named Teacher of the Year

A fifth grade teacher at South Boston Elementary School on Tuesday evening was named the 2010 Division Teacher of the Year. Patricia Davis, who has been teaching children for the past 23 years, was selected for the honor from among the ten teachers who were nominated from each of the county schools as their “Teacher of the Year.”
