Crash collects seven vehicles

The 58-501 intersection in Riverdale was closed Wednesday around 10:30 a.m. when a tractor trailer carrying plywood and six other vehicles were caught in a chain-reaction crash. Although information from Virginia State Police was not available at press time, observers said the plywood truck rolled through the traffic light when the crash ensued, damaging a second tractor trailer rig and multiple passenger vehicles. Spilled plywood in the roadway forced VDOT to close the busy intersection to thru traffic for more than two hours for cleanup. One driver was reportedly transported to the hospital ER for treatment.
