One year later, police still searching for missing Halifax County woman

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, South Boston Police Department and Virginia State Police continue to aggressively pursue the case of missing Halifax County woman, Hattie Gertrude Brown. It will be a year ago Sunday, May 16, that she was last seen at a gas station outside of South Boston with her nephew, Derrick Brown. At this stage of the investigation, investigators do suspect foul play in Brown’s disappearance.

Drug, weapons counts filed

An early morning traffic stop on May 12, resulted in several drug and weapon charges. Deputy Tyler Clarke stopped Stevie Thomas Taylor, age 41, of 1043 Carr Lane, Halifax at around 2 a.m. Wednesday on North Main Street in South Boston for an equipment violation.

Car stolen, school vandalized in Halifax

Halifax Town police are investigating a vandalism incident at the former Halifax Elementary School and the theft of a car and car stereo near the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

Car wash raises funds for Crime Line

The Halifax County Crime Line Committee and local emergency services personnel will be hosting a car wash fundraiser Saturday, May 15 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at O’Reilly Auto Parts on Halifax Road in Centerville. All funds raised will go toward rewards and operating expenses for the Halifax County Crime Line.
