Main and North Main Streets will mark the center of activity at Saturday’s Harvest Festival in downtown South Boston, with arts and crafts for sale up and down the street, entertainment on three stages and food around every corner.

Police have few leads in robbery of South Boston fast-food restaurant manager

South Boston Police are continuing to look for the man who robbed a manager of the local Wendy’s restaurant located at Old Halifax Road Monday morning.

Thefts, B&E investigated in Halifax County

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Department is investigating several incidents in the southwestern part of the county over the past couple of days. Someone broke open the front door to Dale Bates’ home, 3232 Harmony Road, Alton, sometime between 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday and stole a jar of change. Deputy Chris Hudson is investigating the break-in.

Halifax County deputy charged in crash

Halifax County Deputy Sheriff W. Gray Nunn has been charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain control of the vehicle he was operating, according to Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin. The citation follows a single vehicle accident which occurred earlier this month.
