Seven earn Bates scholarships

Seven Halifax County High School graduates have been named recipients of the Dr. Jesse J. Bates Scholarship for 2010. The annual scholarship is awarded to high school graduates planning a career in health care. Seven local high school graduates have been named recipients of Halifax Regional Health System’s 2010 Dr. Jesse J. Bates Scholarship. Named to honor the late Jesse J. Bates, M.D., the annual scholarship is awarded to local high school seniors planning to attend college to pursue a career in healthcare.

The Virginia Paternity Establishment Program is designed to help unmarried parents assure that the father’s name appears on the birth certificate, and at Halifax Regional Hospital and other hospitals throughout the state, the procedure is important, simple and free.
