The South Hill Chamber of Commerce and area businesses will host the third annual Hometown Christmas celebration in downtown South Hill Friday through Sunday, beginning with a tree lighting ceremony with Mayor Dean Marion on Friday at 6 p.m. On Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., the young and young at heart can enjoy ice skating (shown above from 2019), sledding in a toboggan tunnel and the Christmas Carousel at the corner of Danville Street and Mecklenburg Avenue. All events are free. The three-day celebration of winter wonderland concludes with the town’s Christmas parade Sunday at 2 p.m., with Santa and parade grand marshal Odicci Alexander.
