Lakefest fun, up and down Virginia Avenue

Pedestrians were swept along in a fast-moving crowd that jammed Virginia Avenue on Saturday at Clarksville’s 33rd annual Virginia Lakefest. Most visitors got an early start to avoid the late-day heat, and kept right on walking when a brief shower passed through town around 2 p.m. The festival featured train and helicopter rides, live entertainment, children’s rides and amusements, hot air balloons, and of course, fireworks over the lake.

Canadian textile firm to locate in Mecklenburg County

Régitex USA LLC, a manufacturer of made-to-order ring spun and open end yarns, will invest $1.5 million to open a manufacturing operation in Mecklenburg County. The company will acquire and upgrade an existing textile plant, creating 60 new jobs.

Community steps up to aid Complex

Since the Grand Opening of the Clarksville Enrichment Complex at the end of June, the beautiful and modern LED lighted sign in front of the building as well as seven parking lot lights and poles have been installed. The sign can be remotely programmed from inside to provide information to drivers and passengers as they pass by The Complex. Together they provide safety and information to the community users of this new community services facility.

County lines up incentive package

Mecklenburg County will offer tax relief to an undisclosed company or companies in connection with the anticipated award of almost $5 million in Virginia Tobacco Commission grants.

Landfill contractor added to lawsuit complaint
