A Mecklenburg County Grand Jury on Monday indicted three local men — including the former county building inspector — in the aftermath of an Aug. 26 Southside Virginia Task Force raid in which marijuana with an estimated street value of $418, 000 was confiscated.

An 88-year-old Clarksville man died Monday after suffering major injuries in an accident with a tractor-trailer rig near Finchley on Friday.

Remains turn up in pond

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office dive team on Saturday afternoon recovered the body of a man inside a red SUV submerged in 10 to 11 feet of water in a pond on Trinity Church Road.
