COLLL courses offered at SVHEC

On June 14, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) will launch the summer term of the College of Life Long Learning (COLLL). COLLL brings together PJ 50+ and Special Interest classes which have traditionally been two of the SVHECs most popular programs. To participate, individuals pay a $45 registration fee that allows them to take as many classes as they like within the summer term. “This is a true value” said COLLL Coordinator, Patricia Ward, “this summer we are offering 13 classes covering a wide variety of subjects. I’m sure that there will be several classes that every person will find of interest.”

Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Department of Wood Science and Forest Products, College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech and the USDA Forest Service announce a workshop on “Green Home Building” to be held on May 11, at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (HEC) in South Boston, from 5-8:30 p.m.

Dr. Glenn DuBois, chancellor of the Virginia Community College System, will be the guest speaker at the Dual Enrollment Dinner of Southside Virginia Community College on May 13. The event will honor the highly motivated, exceptional students from local high schools who will graduate from SVCC before receiving their high school diplomas in 2010.
