Canadian firm buys Brodnax Mills

A Canadian-owned textile company, buoyed by economic development incentives, has taken over operations of the ailing Brodnax Mills.

Canadian textile firm to locate in Mecklenburg County

Régitex USA LLC, a manufacturer of made-to-order ring spun and open end yarns, will invest $1.5 million to open a manufacturing operation in Mecklenburg County. The company will acquire and upgrade an existing textile plant, creating 60 new jobs.

South Hill woman guilty of second-degree murder

Mecklenburg County Circuit Court Judge Leslie Osborn Tuesday found Kimberly Andrea Reese, 46, of South Hill, guilty of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Paul Revere Bennett.

The South Hill Rotary Club named Rob Crisman of Bracey as the recipient of the Service Above Self Award for the 2009-2010 year. Crisman is owner of Quality Pier Builders and Lake Gaston Sunrooms and Spas in Bracey, but is better known among his peers as a person who does good deeds for others behind the scenes and without seeking recognition. The Service Above Self Award is the most prestigious honor handed out by the Rotary Club. Service Above Self.
