Ada Jane Sydnor Barksdale

Ada Jane Sydnor Barksdale, 74, of 1036 Carr Lane, Halifax died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at The Woodview. Ms. Barksdale was born in Halifax County on March 28, 1938 to the late Winston Sydnor and Florene Jennings Sydnor. She was married to the late June Barksdale and was a member of Traynham Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Rosa Carden and Sherry Kingsberry, both of Halifax and Wanda Fallen of South Boston; two sons, Michael Barksdale and Morgan Barksdale and wife, Patsy, all of Halifax; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie Sydnor and wife Rosa of Alexandra and Carl Sydnor of Halifax; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including the devoted Patricia Powell. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Barksdale was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Byrd and Jean Stephens, two brothers, Herman Sydnor and Winston Sydnor Jr. and two great-grandchildren, Tykeria Saunders and Gerren Walton Jr.

A funeral was hel Saturday, Nov. 24 at Traynham Grove Baptist Church with Rev. William Keen officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Funeral services are by Jeffress Funeral Home, North Main Street, South Boston.
