Addison Bedford Lewis

Addison Bedford Lewis, 86, of Halifax, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 at Sentara Woodview. He was born March 30, 1931 in Halifax County, son of the late Earl Lynwood Lewis and Virgie Satterfield Lewis. He was married to the late Nancy Wilmouth Lewis and was a member of Oak Level Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Lewis retired from ABB was a machine operator and was an honorary member of Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Lewis is survived by one son, James Addison Lewis and wife Mary Ann of Halifax; four grandchildren, Kevin Henderson and wife Crystal of Halifax, Brian Henderson and wife Cathy of Halifax, Drew Lewis of Halifax and Lee Lewis of Raleigh, N.C., four great-grandchildren; one brother, Aubrey Lee Lewis of Halifax; three sisters, Laura Millhiser of South Boston, Martha Terry of Ringgold and Betty Jean Loftis of Sutherlin.

One daughter, Nancy Lee Henderson, four brothers, Herman, Lynwood, Emmitt and Warner Lewis and one sister, Vernie Price, preceded him in death.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at Oak Level Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Wilkins officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday from 5-6:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home.
