Obituaries

Annie Bell King Wood

Annie Bell King Wood of South Boston went to her heavenly home Friday, Nov. 9, 2012. She was born in Halifax County on Nov. 6, 1930 and was 82 at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Oliver Cromwell King and the late Mary Jenny Shelton King and was married to Harvey
Leon Wood who survives. She was a member of the True Light Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Patty Wood Carr of Halifax and Susan Wood Bomar of Nathalie, three grandchildren, Robert White Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, Justin Bomar and Lane Carr, both of Halifax, three great grandchildren, Ashley Chavers of Seattle, Washington, Chase Bomar and Kaylee Williams, both of Nathalie, a brother, Jack King of Lynchburg, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Roy and Melvin King and a sister, Edna Elder.

A funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at the True Light Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Union United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family received friends, Sunday, Nov. 11 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the True Light Baptist Church and at other times at her home.
