Ashby Gale Bell Jr., 70, of South Hill died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Chase City Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Bell was born in Mecklenburg County, Oct. 24, 1947 to the late Ashby Gale Sr. and Gladys Jones Bell. He attended East End High School, South Hill, and was a member of Williams Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Bell was a former employee of Rex Materials.

Cherishing his memories are two sisters, Brenda Bell Burwell of South Hill and Ola Mae Montgomery of East Orange, N.J.; three aunts, Iola Pulliam of Boydton, Estelle Bell of South Hill, and Claudia Bell of Orange, N.J.; two nephews, eight nieces, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bell was preceded in death by one brother, William Alton Bell.

A funeral was held Sunday, June 24, at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, with Rev. Andy Hargrove, officiating. Burial followed in Williams Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
