Audrey Ayers Carter, age 84, of Chase City, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2018. She is the daughter of the late Jesse and Mamie Ayers.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Carter Homes and husband Charles F. Homes III of Boydton, her grandson, Mark Brandon Homes (Michelle Phillips); her great grandchildren, Carter Homes and Taya Phillips of Oak Ridge, N.C.; her sister, Geneva Shepherd of Blackstone, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Carter Jr.; her brother, Roy Ayers; and her sister, Irene McGuire.

A funeral was held Monday, Nov. 5 at Bethel Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

The family received friends Monday, Nov. 5 at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Donna Smith, 9040 Trottinridge Road, Chase City, VA 23824.

Newcomb-Allgood Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
