Barbara Lovelace Saunders, 85, of Halifax, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017. She was born in Halifax County on Feb. 17, 1932, daughter of the late Daniel Lacy Lovelace and Alice Hurt Reeves Lovelace. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church.

Ms. Saunders is survived by two daughters, Annette S. Ferguson and Otis Vaughan of Halifax and Melanie Saunders and Angie Abdi of Halifax; one son, Bert Saunders and wife Beth of Mechanicsville; one sister, Ann Newton of Richmond; grandchildren, Dane Ferguson of Los Angeles, Peyton Ferguson of Halifax, Grace and Will Abdi of Halifax; and her Woodview family.

She was preceded in death by siblings Mary Holt, Margaret Costner, Bessie Baynes, Emily Lovelace and Pete Lovelace.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at Dan River Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Frakes, Rev. Doug Gibson and Rev. Don Pizzeck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 29 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Melanie Saunders, 3051 Cowford Road, Halifax.
